UPDATE, 5:37: Cash said Arcia is liklely to get time at DH and RF, and will be in the lineup on Saturday. Cash wasn't sure what he had been doing since being DFA'd by the Twins on June 16. ... Arcia will wear No. 9.
UPDATE, 2:18: Arcia won't be with the Rays for tonight's game, but could join them for Saturday's doubleheader. They also get to call up a 26th man for that, which seems likely to be a pitcher. Arcia is out of options.
DEVELOPING: The Rays made a move to get outfield help at the big-league level after all, acquiring Oswaldo Arcia from the Twins on Friday for either a player to be named or cash.
Arcia is expected to join the Rays in Baltimore, with a corresponding roster move at the time. To make room on the 40-man roster, RHP Andrew Bellati was designated for assignment.
Arcia was hitting .214 with four homers and 12 RBIs in 21 games for the Twins this season.
Over parts of four seasons with the Twins, Arcia, 25, has a .240 average, plus a .303 on-base percentage and .429 slugging percentage, with 37 doubles, five triples, 40 homers and 120 RBI in 251 games. He was in their opening day lineup in 2014 and 2015, and hit a career-high 20 homers in 2014.
Bellatti was impressive at times during his 2015 rookie season out of the Rays bullpen, but spent all of this season at Triple-A Durham, most of it on the DL with shoulder issues.
