Rays announce Cogen hiring, more duties for Higgins, Lenz
The Rays today formally announced the addition of former Nashville Predators CEO Jeff Cogen as chief business officer and a series of other front-office moves.
Cogen, who was hired in late October, will oversee the ticket sales and service, corporate partnerships, marketing and communications departments. He has previous baseball experience with the Texas Rangers (2004-07) and drew raves for his work in Nashville for increasing attendance and ticket revenue.
The Rays also announced that senior vice president and general counsel John Higgins - the team's first employee - will now also oversee the finance department, and that senior vice president of strategy & development Melanie Lenz will now also oversee the broadcasting and community relations departments,
Brian Richeson is now vice president, ticket sales & marketing;
Eric Weisberg has been promoted to senior director, fan experience;
Sean Liston has been promoted to director, corporate partnership services;
Amy Miller has been promoted to director, marketing

"The individuals we are recognizing today are proven professionals who will continue to carry the Rays to new heights."
