Rays beat Indians 4-0
Behind a strong start by lefthander Matt Moore, the Rays beat the Indians, 4-0 Friday night in front of 16,019 at Tropicana Field.
Moore, a traditionally slow starter, was very sharp, allowing just two hits over six shutout innings. He struck out eight and walked two, matching his win total from the first two months of last season.
The Rays gave him plenty of support, with Ben Zobrist knocking in three of the four runs (on two doubles). Sam Fuld also had two hits, as did Jose Lobaton.
LHP Jake McGee threw a 1-2-3 seventh, bouncing back nicely from his rough opener, allowing five runs in a loss to the Orioles Tuesday. RHP Brandon Gomes, called up earlier in the day to replace injured Jeff Niemann, tossed a perfect eighth.
And veteran Joel Peralta made sure fans in attendance got their free pizza by notching the team's 10th strikeout in the ninth.
