Rays' Escobar leaves game in ninth
Rays shortstop Yunel Escobar left Sunday's game in the ninth inning after beating out an infield sinsgle.
Escobar appeared to grab his right leg after passing first base, and was attended to by assistant athletic trainer Paul Harker and manager Joe Maddon. Escobar came out of the game, tipping his helmet to a nice ovation by the fans.
Escobar has been one of the Rays pleasant surprises this season, playing a spectacular shortstop and improving offensively. His 51-game errorless streak was snapped in the second inning Sunday.
Ben Zobrist took Escobar's place at short. With the upcoming four-day All-Star break, Escobar should have plenty of time to rest.
