Rays veteran reliever Kyle Farnsworth was pulled from Saturday's outing against the Twins as a precaution after bruising his right middle finger reaching for a single up the middle in the eighth inning.

Farnsworth, making the second of back-to-back appearances, said it was a "reaction play" when he tried to barehand Chris Collabello's grounder.

"If I had time to think about it, I would have pulled my hand back," he said.

Farnsworth said it was just a bruise, and if it were a regular season game, he would have stayed in. He has no concerns about it impacting his Opening Day availability. Farnsworth said he was scheduled for 2-3 more appearances this week, but should be good to go.

Manager Joe Maddon didn't seem concerned either, saying Farnsworth is fine.
