Rays go extra for 10-7 win

As if having two games to open the spring season on Saturday wasn't enough, the Rays played 10 innings on Sunday, but ended up with a 10-7 win over the Twins.

After blowing a 7-2 lead in the ninth with minor-leaguer Jimmy Patterson on the mound, the Rays came back in the 10th to take the lead on a single by Leslie Anderson, the Cuban defector who has five RBIs in two spring games, and a two-run homer by Mark Thomas.

Manager Joe Maddon said that they decided to play a 10th inning once they had to use Jim Paduch in relief of Patterson, figuring Paduch might as well work a full inning.
