Rays lose to Phillies 10-1

The Rays lost to the Phillies 10-1 on a chilly afternon at Bright House Field in Clearwater.

RHP Roberto Hernandez, competing for the 5th starter's job, sailed through the first four innings allowing only one hit, but then got hit around heavily over the next two allowing nine runs on 10 hits and a walk.

Hernandez said he felt fine and didn't change anything in his approach or delivery but wasn't able to keep the down as much.

The Rays (15-15) are expected to announce the fifth starter after Jeff Niemann pitches on Wednesday. Manager Joe Maddon said he was "not discouraged" by Hernandez's outing since he got a lot of ground balls overall.

The Rays host the Jays on Wednesday in their final game of the spring in Port Charlotte.
