Rays prospect Honeywell takes aim at NL MVP Bryce Harper
Rays prospect RHP Brent Honeywell took aim a pretty big target Tuesday, tweeting his opinion of Nationals star Bryce Harper wearing a cap after Monday's game that said: Make Baseball Fun Again.
The cap, seemingly playing off Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's Make America Great Again slogan, drew some interesting reaction across the social media landscape. Harper came out earlier this spring, in an article in ESPN The Magazine, as saying that baseball was "tired" because players can't express themselves and show their flair.
Honeywell, 21, is a 2014 draft pick who is one of the Rays top young pitchers. He will start this season at advanced Class A Charlotte.
His tweets are below:
"Make baseball fun again" it must not be too fun being one of the youngest super stars. It must not be fun to face the best of the best.— Brent Honeywell (@brent_honeywell) April 5, 2016
Baseball is not a "tired" game either. It's been played 155 years and people still want to play it. Real "clown move"— Brent Honeywell (@brent_honeywell) April 5, 2016
