Rays-Red Sox postponed, will play Monday

UPDATE, 8:21: The Rays will push their rotation back a day, so Hellickson will start Friday in New York, Archer on Saturday and Moore on Sunday. The Rays will decide whether to stay in order and pitch Hernandez on Monday vs. the Sox (who are pitching Doubront) or - more likely - keep David Price on his 5-day schedule and start him Monday. The other will faced Arizona at home on Tuesday.

Maddon praised the umpires for their decision, saying it was most important to be able to play 9 innings, not just start the game.

UPDATE, 7:40: The game has bene postponed by the umpires, will be played Monday at 6:10.

DEVELOPING: The start of tonight's Rays-Red Sox has officially been delayed due to rain.

The forecast for the rest of the night is not encouraging. The umpires have been talking with reps of both teams.

If the game is postponed, a good possibility for a makeup would be Monday. Both teams are off and relatively near by, the Rays in New York and the Red Sox in Baltimore.
