Rays-Red Sox rained out

Tonight's Rays-Red Sox game at Fenway Park has been rained out.

UPDATE, 4:33: Pitching coach Jim Hickey said the basic theory with the pitching was to keep Price on his schedule and minimize the impact of the disruption on the other starters. Sounds like the biggest decision was Monday's 11 a.m. game and though he joked whether Hellickson would be awake by then they went that way.

UPDATE, 3:29: The Rays will keep Price, who already had an extra day of rest, on schedule and start him on Saturday, then move Cobb to Sunday and push Hellickson back to Monday. Sounds like the Red Sox will skip LHP Felix Doubront, who was scheduled for Friday, and start LHP Jon Lester, RHP Clay Buchholz and RHP Ryan Dempster.

DEVELOPING: Friday's game against the Red Sox has been called off due to the rain and inclement weather.

No makeup date was announced, but it is not expected to be during this weekend series. More likely is during the Rays next visit in June. Both teams have June 17 off.

No word yet on the Rays pitching plans. A handful of players took the early bus here to Fenway already.

RHP Alex Cobb was to start tonight, followed by LHP David Price, RHP Jeremy Hellickson and RHP Roberto Hernandez in Monday's marathon day matinee.
