Rays closer Fernando Rodney was named to the All-WBC team for his outstanding performance in helping the Dominican Republic team to the championship.

Rodney worked eight games (in a 13-day span), getting the final out in each and saving seven. He pitched 7 1/3 innings, allowing on runs and only 1 hit, with three walks and eight strikeouts.

He is expected to arrive back in Florida late night and rejoin the Rays on Thursday.

No word about the fate of the magic plantain.
