Scott still out, Maddon still optimistic
Rays manager Joe Maddon said after today's game DH Luke Scott won't play on Wednesday due to tightness in his right calf.
Though Maddon said he remains optimistic Scott will be ready for Tuesday's opener, he also said he would like to see Scott get some more at-bats in exhibitions.
"As of right now I think it's okay, the next two days will probably be very telling if there's any looseness to it, what (head athletic trainer) Ronnie (Porterfield) really thinks its going to take at that point,'' Maddon said. "But as of this moment I don't think from what I've heard that he's going to be unable to play.''
After Wednesday, the Rays have only three more exhibitons. Scott was in the lineup and scratched due to the tightness, he last played on Saturday and has made only 37 plate appearances this spring.
Scott was feeling a little better, Maddon said.
Maddon did say OF Sam Fuld (right hamstring tightness) was ready and is in the Wednesday lineup.
