Sunday report: Myers, eventually, makes it to camp
UPDATE, 12:28: Maddon said the second day went well, as he is more concerned with observation and getting his message out than evaluation.
Matt Moore was among the pitchers throwing his first bullpen and said it went well. Moore went back to an off-season workout regimen he used previously and said it should help him mechanically, physically and with added velocity.
Chris Archer also threw today and said it went well.
UPDATE, 11:11: Cuban RHP Odrisamer Despaigne will have a showcase in Port Charlotte today for the Rays and other teams.
DEVELOPING: AL Rookie of the Year Wil Myers was among the position players joining the Rays camp today, and he had an adventure getting here.
Myers lives in Thomasville, N.C., and planned to fly from Charlotte to Tampa on Friday. But his fliight was canceled due to weather issues, and with no other flights available, he quickly made other plans. Myers rented a car - a small Kia - and instead drove 10 hours to Tampa, spent the night, then came down to Port Charlotte on Saturday.
Myers said he is more relaxed coming to camp for the second time, and that despite his success last year he worked hard during the winter and isn't taking anything for granted.
Other position players reporting today include Sean Rodriguez and minor-leaguer Mikie Mahtook.
Pitchers scheduled to throw bullpens today include Chris Archer, Alex Colome, Matt Moore and Joel Peralta.
