Despite the rain and schedule shuffling, the Rays got some good work in Thursday.

Manager Joe Maddon said it was most important for the pitchers to throw so they could stay on schedule.

Chief among them was ace David Price, who threw 61 pitches in simulated game action, one inning in the field and then - after it started to rain - two more in the indoor batting cage,

Price said it went well. "We were able to accomplish everything,'' Price said. "Everything went really well.''

Maddon said the position players, especially the catchers, could benefit from the light day,

The Rays will keep their pitching plans in order, so that means Alex Cobb will start on Friday in Dunedin.
