Tuesday morning report: Rays at Red Sox, Ramos now in mix for No. 5 job
UPDATE, 11:47: Maddon confirmed what had started to seem apparent, that LHP Cesar Ramos is also being considered for the No. 5 starters job. Maddon said they had been talking about it in the off-season and after talking Ramos at the start of camp decided to look at him as well. Other candidates include LH Erik Bedard, RHs Jake Odorizzi, Alex Colome, Nathan Karns.
UPDATE, 10:22: The Rays have signed RHP Sergio Perez, a University of Tampa product who spent eight seasons in the minors, mostly with Houston and last year with Oakland and then in Mexico.

Zobrist said he felt "great" the day after his debut and is on track to play again Wednesday.
RHP Nathan Karns was originally slated to pitch in the game today but instead will throw a bullpen and pitch Thursday, a change he said was made for scheduling reasons and not for any physical issues.
DEVELOPING: The Rays head south to Fort Myers today to play the Red Sox, with Chris Archer on the mound for his first start of the spring.
2B Ben Zobrist will be off today after making his spring debut on Monday, having missed the first week of drills due to a tight and sore back.
The travel roster includes OF Wil Myers, 1B James Loney, SS Yunel Escobar, OF Matt Joyce and OF David DeJesus.
