Wednesday game report: Rays win again, 5-4

The Rays rolled to their fourth straight win on Wednesday, beating the Yankees 5-4.

LH Cesar Ramos showed well in his first start in a bid to win the open spot in the rotation, working into the third.

The Rays hit three home runs, one by Ben Zobrist, who showed there are no lingering issues with his back; one by Desmond Jennings over the boardwalk, showing the kind of power he is capable of; and one by Matt Joyce.

RH Jake Odorizzi worked the ninth, quite pleased by the development of his new pitch, the hybrid splitter-changeup he learned from Alex Cobb that is known as The Thing.

The Rays did make their first error of the spring, by minor-league INF Richie Shaffer.
