UPDATE, 1:25: Rays manager Joe Maddon said he texted with Longoria last night and, "He told me everything was great ... everything went well.''

Maddon said he texted to check in early evening and Longoria told him the baby had just been born, and that Edmondson was doing fine as well. 

"I didn't want to interfere with the moment, just wanted to know that everybody was well and he said that they were, so I felt good about it,'' Maddon said.

Maddon wasn't aware if they had chosen a name.

DEVELOPING: There's been no official announcement, but word in the Rays clubhouse today is that Jaime Edmondson and Evan Longoria had their baby girl last night and that all are doing well.

Edmondson tweeted yesterday that doctors had decided it was best for her and the baby to induce labor, about six weeks before the April 1 due date.
