Zimmer to throw out first pitch
The Rays announced this morning that senior advisor Don Zimmer will throw out the ceremonial first pitch for the April 2 season opener, accompanied by his family.
Zimmer, 82, is entering his 65th season in pro baseball. He has been limited to only occasional spring training appearances due to health concerns as he undergoes home dialysis. This will be his 54th major-league opening day.
The Rays also announced that saxophonist BK Jackson, a Tampa native and frequent guest at the Trop, will perform the national anthem.
