FSU news

So much for an offseason.

Lots of news at FSU, beginning with Jennifer Hyde being named the South Region women's tennis coach of the year. FSU was ranked No. 72 at the end of last year but improved dramatically this year, not only making it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament but holding a No. 17 ranking.

"I am very excited about being recognized with this award,'' Hyde said. "There are so many unbelievably successful and talented coaches in the region and to be recognized amongst that stellar group is a great compliment. I'm also veyr pleased that the team gets the recognition that they have well earned this year in turning this progrram around. This is an award not just for me, this is an award for the whole program and everyone who has invested in it. I think it is a great way to cap off the season this team has had.''

Meanwhile, two key women's basketball player, Britany Miller and Tanae Davis-Cain are among 45 players who have accepted invites to try out this week in Colorado Springs for 2007 USA Basketball under-21 world championship team and 2007 Pan American Games team.
