2009 Florida State Seminoles countdown: Jacksonville State
We're counting down to the 2009 Florida State Seminoles football season, which starts in less than two months. We're taking a daily look at this year's opponents. Today, Jacksonville State.
Sept. 12: Florida State vs. Jacksonville State, 6 p.m.
2008 records: FSU 9-4; Jacksonville State 8-3
Last meeting: Jacksonville State beat Florida State 7-0 in the schools' only meeting in 1947.
Gamecocks outlook: The Seminoles often struggle the weekend after opening on Labor Day, even though they typically schedule a softer opponent such as Division I-AA Jacksonville State. The Gamecocks are likely to be firmly in the I-AA preseason poll on the strength of quarterback Ryan Perrilloux, a transfer after being kicked out at LSU.
