Barnhart: FSU academic scandal appeal has (virtually) no chance
Atlanta Journal-Constitution college football guru Tony Barnhart says he doesn't believe schools should have to vacate victories, but after reading the NCAA Committee on Infractions' response to Florida State's appeal in the academic scandal case, Barnhart concludes there's little chance the NCAA will back off the penalty. "I still don't think this is right but I think it will stand," he writes. That would virtually end Florida State football coach Bobby Bowden's chances of catching Joe Paterno for the all-time major college lead.
