Florida State men's basketball coach Leonard Hamilton on Luke Loucks, Derwin Kitchen

Former Clearwater High star Luke Loucks responded well to Florida State coach Leonard Hamilton's challenge to do more offensively.

He had a career-high 19 points in FSU's 71-65 win against Miami on Saturday.

"We've challenged Luke along with Derwin (Kitchen) to be much more aggressive on the offensive end,'' Hamilton said. "The positive thing about them is they want to run the team, they want to be the coach on the floor, they want to make good decisions with the ball, they want to get their teammates involved. They realize the role of a point guard. But on this particular team, it’s obvious we need them to be a little bit more involved offensively.''

Kitchen scored a career-high 29 in last Thursday's 71-67 loss to Maryland.

"I like the fact that we told them to be a little more aggressive and they’ve stepped up,'' Hamilton said. "It definitely will take the pressure off our inside game if we get these guys playing the way they played the last couple of games.''
