Florida State offense to be tested by Nagurski Trophy candidates

With 10 returning starters, including quarterback Christian Ponder, back from an offense that averaged 421.4 yards, Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher expects his team to be able to move the ball exceptionally well.

But the Seminoles offense will be tested, especially if the watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy is any indication. Consider how many of the 74 contenders to be named the nation's top defensive player will be suiting up against FSU:

North Carolina: Marvin Austin, defensive tackle; Bruce Carter, linebacker; Robert Quinn, defensive end; Quan Sturdivant, linebacker.

Miami: Allen Bailey, defensive end; Brandon Harris, cornerback.

Oklahoma: Jeremy Beal, defensive end; Travis Lewis, linebacker.

Clemson: Da'Quan Bowers, defensive end; DeAndre McDaniel, safety; Jarvis Jenkins, defensive tackle.

Virginia: Ras-I Dowling, cornerback.

Boston College: Mark Herzlich, linebacker; Luke Kuechly, linebacker.

Maryland: Alex Wujciak, linebacker.

Florida: Janoris Jenkins, cornerback.
