Florida State cornerback Mike Harris the defensive player of the week
Florida State cornerback Mike Harris, a heralded junior college transfer, was named the Seminoles' defensive player of the week. He had four tackles and one interception against Samford.
Meanwhile, coach Jimbo Fisher said that sophomore kicker Dustin Hopkins, who sent most of his kickoffs into the end zone for a touchback (six of 10), hit a 24-yard field goal and all eight of his extra-point attempts, was the choice for the special teams' player of the week. But the most telling team award had to do with the offensive player of the week.
That went to the whole offensive team, not an individual.
