Taylor Swift arrived at Tampa's St. Pete Times Forum on Nov. 12, 2011, the biggest star in country music, having just been named the Country Music Association's Entertainer of the Year.
But touring behind her album Speak Now, Swift, then still just 21, seemed to be reaching for bigger things. Her performance -- glitzy and unstoppable as always -- was something of a master class in how to be a pop role model to fans of all ages.
"Swift, who has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide, understands the lure of transformation, especially for young girls who can't wait to shed the skin they're in," wrote Times reviewer Sean Daly. "Her monstrous gilded stage, all balustrades and sparkly sparkles, morphed into a down-home back porch for the pickin' party of Mean. And then it switched back: princess, regular gal, and so on until a finale in which she hovered over the crowd, a flying Cinderella at last."
