Good vibes all around in in Largo on Saturday, as Michael McKnight married Angelina D’Angeles in a hard rock-themed ceremony at Gasoline Alley.

Wait – a wedding? At Gasoline Alley?

Actually, it was a perfect choice of venue. McKnight is the singer of Soulidium, a Tampa Bay gothic metal band with a flair for the dramatic (McKnight once underwent a cosmetic procedure to give himself fangs) and D’Angeles founded ViciousAngelz.com, a site devoted to vampire girls.

The couple had planned to host the affair outside, McKnight said, but this week’s nasty weather put the kibosh on that. Turns out the change of venue worked like a charm – Gasoline Alley, decked in red and black balloons and full of lit candles, fit right in with the overall aesthetic.

Dressed in black, the bridal party made a dramatic entrance, walking in step behind a cloaked figure carrying a smoking thurible. Then came McKnight and D’Angeles, both wearing burgundy – he in a velvet military-style coat, she in a shimmering full gown embroidered with black florals.

In an unexpected twist, the ceremony itself was understated and traditional, highlighted by McKnight and D‚ÄôAngeles joining in lighting a unity candle.

Afterward, the newlyweds partied with friends, including members of Dope and PsyKill, while the band Retrovein played a mix of hard rock songs onstage. Then the McKnights shared their first dance, to Your Guardian Angel by the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.

As for Soulidium – which had a song on the Saw 4 soundtrack and has toured with Sevendust – they’re taking some time to write and record their second album, due later this year.

In the meantime, mazel tov to the happy couple. May they make many years of beautiful music together.
