(This week, in honor of this weekend's St. Pete Pride festival and next week's GaYbor Days, we're spotlighting some of the local scene's best GLBT musicians. Today: Jeremy Gloff.)

Simultaneously funny, twisted, spunky and inspirational, Jeremy Gloff is an icon in Tampa Bay.Whether he dazzles audiences via his ever-changing performance styles, "Rickrolls" passersby in Ybor City or provides insight by way of his advice column, "Dear Gloffy," in Reax Magazine, he hasn‚Äôt failed to entertain and surprise his fans.

"At the beginning of the decade I was doing folk music and dealing with a lot of really personal chaos," Gloff says. "As the decade wore on I did some indie music and a dance album."

Gloff played his first show in Fredonia, N.Y., in 1994, and soon afterward could be seen at the Orpheum and other Tampa Bay venues performing a Rufus Wainwright-style folk pop. He‚Äôs recently taken his sound down more electronic and dance-y avenues, like in his recent single, Lights Out (see the video after the jump).

"Now I'm working on the next release, which talks about my life now, as a 34-year-old in 2009," he said. The album's title: 21st Century Love Songs.

Openly gay and supportive of the GLBT community, Gloff has reached out to others through his music and writing.

"Giving someone a song, essay, story they can relate to and get something out of is the ultimate reassurance."

In recent weeks. Gloff has been hosting a cool open-mic night on Monday nights called Antisocial at The Social, 1909 N 15th St., Ybor City. Tonight's starts at 10 p.m.
