Fear, Agent Orange coming to the State Theatre

(via videosift.com)

The year was 1981, and John Belushi hadn't appeared on Saturday Night Live in two years. He agreed to make a cameo in that season's Halloween episode, but only if producers let the hardcore punk band Fear perform with a bevy of out-of-control slam dancers. The raucous performance (embedded above) remains one of the more infamous in SNL history.

Not that hardcore punk fans care much about that, I'm sure. They're just happy that Fear will be performing at the State Theatre Aug. 6, alongside Agent Orange, D.I. and Total Chaos, as part of the So Cal Punk Invasion Tour 2009.

Just so you know what you're getting: Singer Lee Ving is the only remaining original member of Fear. Singer Mike Palm is the only original member of Agent Orange. D.I. stars Casey Royer, former drumer for the Adolescents and Social Distortion. And Total Chaos is led by Rob Chaos, co-counder of California's SOS Records.

Tickets are $19.50-$23. The doors open at 7 p.m.

Now make like Belushi and start slamming.
