Thursday on a Wednesday
It's Wednesday. You should go see Thursday.
Gotta say, that's a little confusing. Why couldn't Thursday be more like Hey Monday, which is playing in Tampa next Monday? Or the Happy Mondays, who played in Tampa a few happy Mondays prior?
I suppose, all things considered, it could be worse. Instead of Thursday on a Wednesday, we could have gotten Wednesday on a Thursday. Or Tuesday on a Friday. Or Taking Back Sunday on a Saturday. Or -- horror of horrors -- the Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays all at once on a Tuesday.
Imagine if Radiohead had never changed their name from On A Friday. You could watch On A Friday on a Saturday. And let's all hope and pray the city of St. Petersburg never books Last Monday for First Friday. Awk-werrrd.
I would, however, love to see Wilco, the Mamas and the Papas and Tegan and Sara team up for a joint bockbuster tour. That way, we could hear Monday, Monday Monday and Monday Monday Monday all in one night.
Tonight's Thursday concert is at the State Theatre in St. Pete. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $22.50.
