SoundBytes: Mother's Finest, Blind Boys of Alabama, Cold Cave and more

Mothersfinest

-- After postponing a concert that was originally set for August. Mother's Finest, above, have canceled their gig Saturday night at the Ritz Ybor "due to low ticket sales." Refunds are available at point of purchase.

-- How big is Tampa's Matt Hires these days? Big enough that a FORMER AMERICAN IDOL JASON CASTRO will open for him on his first headlining tour. Matt's next local show (minus Castro) is Dec. 18 at Orpheum.

-- Pitchfork band to watch Cold Cave is playing Crowbar on Feb. 10. Details to come.

-- Here's a show that's meant for Skipper's Smokehouse if ever there was one: Blind Boys of Alabama return to the venue on April 23, according to their Web site.

-- Will Gasparilla rock any more now that their title sponsor is the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino? Only time will tell.

-- Crossbreed wants your help passing out flyers for their show this Friday at Bourbon Street at Wednesday's Underoath concert at the Ritz Ybor.

-- Finally, Tampa's favorite high-top-fade-wearing media gadfly, Motown Maurice, may be through with Wide aWoke Wednesdays. But he's launching a new venture, The Motown Maurice Show, on Jan. 23 at the Good Luck Cafe in Ybor City. Click here for details.
