Black.dahlia.murder
-- The Black Dahlia Murder, above, are bringing the metalcore to St. Petersburg, alongside Obscura, Augury and Hatesphere. The gig is Feb. 25 at the State Theatre. Tickets are $14-$16, and they go onsale Friday. Click here for details.

-- In case you missed it: Buju Banton, scourge of the gay community, was arrested in Miami over the weekend. Word is, his trial will be based in Tampa.

-- Craig Ferguson used to be a drummer in several U.K. punk bands. Did you know that? Maybe he'll tell you about it when he comes to Ruth Eckerd Hall on March 17 (St. Patrick's Day!). Click here for details.

-- The first phase of Jannus Landing's relaunch will take place this weekend, as the renovated Pelican Pub reopens on Feb. 18. It'll be sleek, with a new sound system and six flat-screen HD TVs, all tuned to sports. Click here for details.

-- Some nice accolades for Cope, whose album Going Home was nominated for Album of the Year by the Homegrown Music Network.

-- A last-minute hometown show for We the Kings: Dec. 28 at the Hall in Palmetto. Tickets are $15. Click here for details.

-- In January, Elvis Presley would have turned 75. By god, the Mahaffey Theater is gonna be ready for it.

-- We here at SoundcheckCorp. consider ourselves the foremost authority on local barbershop music, so we're proud to tell you that Tampa will be hosting the 2010 Midwinter Convention of the Barbershop Harmony Society, from Jan. 26-30.

-- Are you in a touring band, and looking for a place to stay on the road? Check out betterthanthevan.com.

-- Finally, if you're looking for a last-minute Christmas gift for DJ Smallz, how about some mittens? The man is performing a New Year's Eve show in FREAKING ANCHORAGE, ALASKA. Northern Smoke, anyone?
