(This week we’re asking local musicians to pick their favorite local albums of 2009. Here, Jonny C. of The Rest of Us and Pretty Boy Thorson pays tribute to Too Many Daves.)

Too Many Daves, Go Full Tard 2x7”
These two 7-inch records in one gatefold package are the soundtracks to the best party you’ve ever been to. Not stuffy wine and cheese parties, not uncomfortable office parties, not even rowdy frat parties. I’m talking about the ideal ’80s movie party scene complete with furniture shattering through windows, rampant drug use, fully clothed people thrown into pools and livestock in the living room. In an idiot-savant sort of fashion, Too Many Daves (Dave Disorder, Dave Decker, Davey Tilewheel, Dave Arcade and Joe Dave) craft songs that deliver the honesty and integrity of the people playing the music even in spite of their passed-out party-time mantra. If the nine songs represented here don’t make you want to rip your shirt off and reach for the nearest (beer) bong, then you’re probably worse off than Bernie Lomax.
