Matisyahu, Iyaz, Taio Cruz set for club shows in St. Petersburg
Tampa Top 40 station 93.3-FLZ has been hitting the live music scene in a big way. First there was the Jingle Ball in December, then acoustic shows by Kris Allen and The Script at the Venue.
Next week, they're going to be all over St. Petersburg with a trio of hot, yet intimate, pop and hip-hop shows: Matisyahu and Taio Cruz at Push Ultra Lounge, and Iyaz at the Venue.
Hasidic reggae-rapper Matisyahu is probably the best known performer of the three, and he's a popular presence around Tampa Bay. This is billed as a "Not So Secret Show," and 93.3 is promising an "acoustic performance," so it should be cool. The show is at 10 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, at Push Ultra Lounge, 128 Third St. S, St. Petersburg. Click here for details.
British singer-songwriter-rapper-producer Taio Cruz (Break Your Heart, I Just Wanna Know) will drop in on Push Ultra Lounge on Thursday, March 11, alongside VJ Kidd Leow and 93.3-FLZ's Ratboy and Staypuff, for the club's Throwdown Thursday night. There will be drink specials all night. Click here for details.
But Virgin Islands singer Iyaz, above, might just be the hottest show of the week. It's Friday, March 12, at the Venue, and he recently had a No. 1 hit with Replay. The Sean Kingston protege was at the Jingle Ball, and he's pushing his new single, Solo. The Venue is billing this as the "Ultimate Spring Break Party," tickets are $10-$15. Click here for details.

50 Concerts
Why would anyone voluntarily attempt to see 50 concerts at 50 different venues in a single summer? Jay Cridlin shrugged and thought: Eh, why not.
