2018 Vans Warped Tour moving from St. Petersburg to Tampa

When the Vans Warped Tour returns to town on Aug. 4 as part of its final cross-country run, fans can expect one major change: It'll take place in Tampa, not St. Petersburg.

The Warped Tour, which has taken place at Vinoy Park every year since 2003, will shift to the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheater for its second-to-last-ever show. The move – which was rumored in 2017, but never happened – was announced recently and confirmed over the weekend by a spokeswoman for the venue.

"Every year there are small changes to locations and venues along the Warped Tour for a variety of reasons, including, but not limited to, other tours, venue construction, and local promoter deals," Warped's organizers said in a statement to the Times. "This year, we are unfortunately not returning to the Vinoy Park in St. Petersburg, FL, but we are excited to play the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatrein Tampa, FL. Ending the tour with 4 shows in Florida is definitely going to make for an adventure!"

In a way, the move marks a return to Warped's roots – the first-ever Warped Tour in 1995, with headliners No Doubt and Sublime, played the Florida State Fairgrounds' Expo Hall, a five-minute walk from the Amp.

It isn't the only schedule change for this year's Warped Tour. Last month, organizers announced a handful of dates would be shifted around, in part to accommodate new dates in cities like Jacksonville (Aug. 2) and Orlando (Aug. 3). The final Warped Tour stop is currently scheduled for Aug. 5 in West Palm Beach.

A limited number of early-bird tickets to Warped 2018 go on sale for around $25 today. This year's lineup will be announced Thursday. Click here for details on Tampa's 2018 Warped Tour stop.
