John Mellencamp is about to R.O.C.K. all across the U.S.A. next spring. And his tour will include two nights in Clearwater.
The heartland rock veteran will bring his next tour to Ruth Eckerd Hall on March 29 and 30 for a "night with" performance dubbed "The John Mellencamp Show." They're the last two dates of a tour in support of new album Other People's Stuff, due Nov. 16. Tickets to the show start at $43.25 and go on sale Sept. 21, and they'll include a copy of the new album.
This'll be Mellencamp's first stop in Tampa Bay since a highly enjoyable two-night stand at Ruth Eckerd Hall in 2015. Of that engagement, we wrote that he "has a bit of lounge lizard in him these days, a gum-chomping, casino-club swagger befitting a man who's bagged himself a Meg Ryan. … But the oddness of it all kind of worked, in a Tom Waits-y way, with the hard-earned texture in Mellecamp's voice conjuring up images of a twisted piano bar."
