98 Rockfest lineup: Disturbed, Shinedown, Ghost, more coming to Amalie Arena in Tampa
We're some five months away from 98 Rockfest, but on Tuesday morning we got our first look at the lineup -- and if you like hard rock, it's a doozy.
Chart-topping metal group Disturbed, hugely popular rockers Shinedown and Chevelle and elaborately theatrical Swedish metal sextet Ghost top the lineup for 98 Rockfest 2016, coming to Tampa's Amalie Arena on April 29. They'll be choined by Sick Puppies, Pop Evil and a few more acts yet to be determined.
While Disturbed is a big coup atop the bill (their latest album Immortalized debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, their fifth such album to do so) and Shinedown is as popular as always (they sold out the Mahaffey Theater this summer), the most exciting addition this year has to be Ghost, who delivered a memorably costumed performance at the Ritz Ybor in October. The chance to see them on a huge stage like Amalie Arena is not to be missed.
Tickets to 98 Rockfest start at $29 and go on sale Jan. 8 via Ticketmaster. As usual, there will be a VIP ticket ($175 and up) that includes access to a pre-show party with food and, most likely, an acoustic performance by one of the bands, although the band hasn't yet been picked. There wiill also be a free pre-show outside the arena, headlined by Pop Evil.
