Carnival Live Concert Series: Martina McBride, REO Speedwagon, Chicago, Gavin DeGraw join cruises departing from Tampa

Planning on taking a Carnival cruise from Tampa in the next year? Keep an eye out for some famous faces.

The cruise line this week unveiled the "Carnival Live Concert Series," a run of musical performances by big names on dozens of cruises throughout 2014. Unlike most rock cruises, which are built largely around a festival-like music lineup, these are simply normal cruises with normal concerts on board -- tickets to each show are a la carte, costing between $20-$40 apiece or $100-$150 for VIP.

So far, four cruises departing from Tampa -- all five-day cruises of the Western Caribbean aboard the Carnival Paradise --  will be part of Carnival Live: REO Speedwagon (departing April 19), Martina McBride (May 12), Chicago (May 31) and Gavin DeGraw (Aug. 18).

Some of the names aboard ships leaving from Miami, Jacksonville, Port Canaveral, Los Angeles and elsewhere might be a little bigger -- Jennifer Hudson, Daughtry and Lady Antebellum, for example -- but hey, if you were on the fence about booking a cruise from Tampa, maybe this will be the excuse you've been looking for.
