Artist of the day: Zack Montana
Could the Disney empire's next big pop prince be a Tampa native? Absolutely.
His name is Zack Montana, because, of course it is. And he's one of two finalists in Radio Disney's Next BIG Thing contest, which wraps up this week. Montana and co-finalist Shealeigh. Montana, 14, moved from Tampa to Los Angeles at age 9, and has been singing, dancing and performing ever since. You can spot him in the video for Billy Ray Cyrus' Somebody Said a Prayer, but he's got much more of a pop vibe. He lists his influences as Justin Timberlake, Ne-Yo and Michael Jackson, but another influence might be Justin Bieber, what with that thick mane of bushy brown hair.
"This is my dream, and this is what I want to do for the rest of my life," he says in the video above.
You can help him achieve it. Voting for Radio Disney's NBT contest continues through noon today -- to vote, go here, here or text NBT to DISNEY (347639). Cody Simpson will announce the winner live onstage on Radio Disney (AM 1380 in Tampa) at 9 p.m. Wednesday (12/7). We'll let you know if he wins. ... Read more
Richard Lewis talks 'Curb Your Enthusiasm,' staying sober and his signature black wardrobe
If you listened to Richard Lewis 's recent podcast interview on WTF with Marc Maron, you might come away thinking he's a dark, confrontational, impossible-to-talk-to guy.
But as we found out recently, that couldn't be further from the truth. During a recent phone call, Lewis held forth amiably on a variety of topics ranging from staying sober to using the F-word to wearing black to the future of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
"I had a Curb Your Enthusiasm lunch a few weeks ago with Larry David," he said. "He just keep looking at his watch then said, 'I have to go,’’ and we had barely started to eat. I said, 'Where are you going?'’ and he said, 'I found a really good parking space and I don’t want to get a ticket.’ He left me there with the lunch and the check. So I’m sure I’ll see that on an episode. I’ve never asked him for a decade now, 'Are you coming back?’ I just don’t know. Curb is a cult show and I love that. I never wanted to be loved by the masses because I figure what kind of comic would I be? I’d be so watered down."
Lewis performs at 9 p.m. Oct. 14 at The Club at Treasure Island, 400 Treasure Island Causeway. Tickets are $43.50. Click here for info.

50 Concerts
Why would anyone voluntarily attempt to see 50 concerts at 50 different venues in a single summer? Jay Cridlin shrugged and thought: Eh, why not.
