Cheap Trick's Robin Zander: From Rockford to Safety Harbor to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Cheap Trick may be the favorite sons of Rockford, Ill. But their singer might as well be Floridian.
For 23 years, Robin Zander has lifed in Safety Harbor, just outside Clearwater. He and wife Pam, who grew up in Pinellas County, moved here to raise their two kids close to her family. He supports local charities. He roots for the Bucs, Rays and Rowdies. He calls Tampa Bay "paradise."
On Friday, the band will enter the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame after many years of eligibility. When he performed at Safety Harbor Songfest last weekend, a volunteer congratulated him on the honor.
"Pretty soon you'll be in the Safety Harbor Rock and Roll Hall of Fame," she said.
Zander chuckled at that one. "I want to be the first member," he said.
