98 Rockfest lineup: Shinedown, Evanescence, P.O.D., more coming to the Tampa Bay Times Forum

Alt-rock and metal fans got a sneak preview of 98 Rockfest this past week. They just didn't know it.

Evanescence and Trivium -- both of whom performed in Tampa within the past week -- are among the headliners for 98 Rockfest 2012, scheduled for April 28 at the Tampa Bay Times Forum in Tampa.

The rest of the lineup, unveiled Monday on 98 Rock: Headliner Shinedown, Five Finger Death Punch, Halestorm and P.O.D., who will headline a free concert on an outdoor stage. And the station promises there are more acts to come.

If you caught Evanescence at the Straz Center on Jan. 16, or Trivium at the Ritz Ybor on Jan. 17, you might be wondering why you shelled out for those shows considering both bands were already planning return trips to Tampa Bay. Or perhaps you didn't get enough of either band, and you're thrilled they're coming back so soon. Or maybe you just missed both shows altogether.

Tickets are priced at $29.99-$150, and they'll go onsale at 10 a.m. Friday via Ticketmaster. For details, click here.

50 Concerts

50rockWhy would anyone voluntarily attempt to see 50 concerts at 50 different venues in a single summer? Jay Cridlin shrugged and thought: Eh, why not.
