A$ap Rocky, Danny Brown, Schoolboy Q coming to the Ritz Ybor in Tampa
Score another one for Tampa's most dynamite hip-hop concert venue, the Ritz Ybor.
Weeks after announcing a show by one of the hottest young rappers in the land, Kendrick Lamar, the Ritz made plans to bring in three MORE of the hottest young rappers in the land: Harlem rapper A$ap Rocky, Detroit oddball Danny Brown and Lamar's L.A. cohort Schoolboy Q. Rocky's A$ap Mob will also be part of the tour, which hits the Ritz on Nov. 10. Ticket prices haven't been announced, but they're due to go onsale Friday. Click here.
None of these guys are household names, with the possible exeption of A$ap Rocky -- and that's only because he was arrested last week following an alleged brawl with a photographer, the night before he was to make his television debut on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. But he's one of the buzzworthiest young rappers out there. His debut album LongLiveA$ap, due Sept. 11, reportedly features contributions from Pharrell, Santigold and Lana Del Rey(!). Meanwhile, Danny Brown has been a 2012 festival favorite, with slots at South by Southwest, Bonnaroo and Pitchfork; and Schoolboy Q, who like Lamar is part of the Compton-based Black Hippy collective, is signed to Interscope and Dr. Dre's Aftermath label.
Between this, Big K.R.I.T. on Aug. 12, Kendrick Lamar on Sept. 26 and Die Antwoord on Oct. 24, the Ritz is killing it on the hip-hop tip this fall. We're still waiting for that Freddie Gibbs show, though. Get on it, Ritzies!
