When the next history is written of Tampa Bay residents making it big in Hollywood, we're going to have to add a new name: Aasif Mandvi, correspondent for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

Born Aasif Mandviwala in Bombay (now known as Mumbai), Mandvi grew up in England and moved to Tampa as a teen, graduating from Chamberlain High School and studying theater at the University of South Florida. He'll have a bit of homecoming Thursday, appearing at USF with a speech he says "gives the impression you're going to learn a lot about how we do The Daily Show."

Mandvi appears at 7 p.m. Thursday in a free lecture at University of South Florida Marshall Student Center, 4202 E Fowler Ave., Tampa. Click here for details.
