Anvil coming to the State Theatre in St. Petersburg
How many aging metalheads out there still get a kick out of watching the documentary Anvil: The Story of Anvil?
The doc, which follows the career of influential yet marginalized Canadian rockers Anvil, received much acclaim in 2008, and helped springboard the band back into international relevance. They embarked on their first tour in a decade, and artists like Slash, Lemmy Kilmister and Scott Ian came out of the woodwork to talk about how the band should've been much, much bigger.
Well, for the first time in god knows how long -- maybe ever? -- Tampa Bay will get a close look at Anvil. The trio is coming to the State Theatre on
Feb. 4 (the same night as
Sleigh Bells at the Ritz
(***UPDATE*** It's actually Feb. 5 ... the same night as the Super Bowl. D'oh!). Tickets are $15. Click here for details.
This gives us nearly two months to watch Anvil: The Story of Anvil at least once a week to keep reminding ourselves of the healing power of rock 'n' roll. Long live metal!
