Is anyone going to see Britney Spears in Orlando?
You thought you were done with Britney Spears when the singer performed before 20,000-plus fans at the St. Pete Times Forum in March. Think again.
The pride of Kentwood, La., is performing at Orlando’s Amway Arena at 8 p.m. Tuesday, with Jordin Sparks (who was just here two weeks ago!) in tow. If you were ever looking for an excuse to ditch work early, bathe yourself in glitter and get loaded on Absolut Pears, this is it. Tickets are $38.50 and up (way, way up) at ticketmaster.com.
But here's what we want to know: Is anyone from Tampa Bay actually planning to drive up I-4 for this concert?
We'll admit, we've made the trek to Orlando many times in the name of good music. Orlando gets some great concerts, often ones we don't get -- like, for example, Peter, Bjorn and John and the Postmarks this Thursday at the Social. (Tickets are $15 for that one, by the way.)
"It was Cirque du Skanky, and usually the star was just too busy to sing," Sean Daly wrote about the Tampa show. "She is a truly lousy dancer. Like, drunk-cousin-at-your-wedding lousy. ... As a concert, it was subpar." (Click here for the full concert review.)
What has changed since then? You've heard If You Seek Amy a few more times? She did that bikini-clad Top 10 list on Letterman? Are you hoping for another Tampa-style wardrobe malfunction? It's not that we're straight-up Britney haters; it's just that we're having a hard time working up the enthusiasm to scrape together gas money on this one.
So we'll put the question to you: Who's driving to Orlando for Britney Spears, and why? Tell us in the comments. We promise we won't judge.
Either way: Let's just hope this guy doesn't show up.
