Arctic Monkeys coming to the Ritz Ybor in Tampa
This concert is slated for April 2, but as far as we can tell, it's not a delayed April Fool's joke.
Now, we're not from Jolly Old London, but we DO remember the year 2006, when the British press fell over itself trying to annoint Arctic Monkeys as the greatest artist since Oasis, or posibly Mozart. NME -- in an uncharacteristic display of overexcitement -- called the band's debut, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, the fifth-greatest British album of all time. It also won the Mercury Prize and was named the best album of 2006 by both Time magazine and the Q Awards.
Shrug. I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor is a good song. That's about as far as we'd go.
Still, we here at SoundcheckCorp. love us some Britrock, and until we get wind of an Elastica/Kula Shaker/Cornershop reunion tour, this might be the best British rock show we're likely to get here in Tampa for a while.
