Artist of the day: After Death
In 2009, the music blog Metal Inquisition wrote: “Mike Browning is a good poser test: Anybody who knows their s--- will quickly tell you about Mike’s role in shaping early Florida death metal.”
Browning was a founding member of Tampa legends Morbid Angel, and a founder of another influential band, Nocturnus. Since 1999, his primary musical focus has been After Death, a proggish metal group whose output veers heavily toward the occult and Egyptian mythology. The band still has hardcore fans around the world — last fall, they toured Chile. The current lineup is Browning on drums and vocals, Demian Heftel on guitars, Belial Koblak on guitars, Nocturnal Void on keys and Daniel Tucker (formerly of Obituary) on bass.
On Saturday, After Death will perform at “Metal For the Millitary,” alongside Thrash Attack, Thrash $ Millionaires and more. Tickets are $10. Click here for info.
