Artist of the day: Bad Santa and the Angry Elves

Horror punk at Halloween? Absolutely. Yuletide punk around Christmastime? Okay, that’s a new one.

Orlando actor Christian Kelty leads Bad Santa and the Angry Elves, a troupe of costumed characters who spread their unique blend of randy, red-and-green rock ‘n’ roll cheer around Central Florida and beyond this time of year. They play both naughty originals and punk and classic rock favorites reworked with a holiday theme (i.e., Giving In the Name to the tune of Rage Against the Machine’s Killing In the Name). Their sound is sludgy, sultry and shadowy — think the Ramones or Judas Priest delivered with the dark humor of Primus.

In addition to holiday shows this year in New York and New Jersey, you can catch Bad Santa and the Angry Elves on Thursday at the Pegasus Lounge in Tampa. Tickets are $5-$7. Click here.
