Artist of the day: Barry Carew
Barry Carew is probably a name familiar to fans of electro and house music in Central Florida. But casual music fans may be interested to learn Carew is keeping busy with some high-profile national gigs, too.
Like performing at the BCS National Championship Game in New Orleans, alongside artists like Pitbull and Cowboy Mouth.
Carew, a Lakeland native, has been DJ'ing around Central Florida and Texas for years, in the process building up a nationwide fan base. A friend and collaborator with DJ Skribble, Carew has toured the world performing at sporting events, corporate parties, spring break events and festivals like South by Southwest. He's diverse enough to have worked with artists ranging from Incubus to Matt and Kim to Dierks Bentley.
On Monday, Carew will serve as DJ at the Official Bud Light Tailgate party at the Superdome, before the LSU-Alabama game. If you're not going, you can still catch him at regular appearances around Tampa Bay -- when he's not on the road, he's a fixture at clubs like the Kennedy in Tampa, Bishop Tavern in St. Petersburg and AJA Wiregrass in Wesley Chapel.
