Artist of the day: Basic Rock Outfit

Descriptive name, huh? Jeremy Thomas (vocals), Andy Stafford (guitar), Jason Gaines (bass) and Eric Bice (drums) of Basic Rock Outfit play a catchy brand of modern rock, a la Daughtry or Lifehouse, with a little bit of Foo Fighters thrown in.

The Clearwater group plays at bars, venues and parties three or four nights a week, and were asked to perform at a party with Paris Hilton at Jackson‚Äôs Bistro in Tampa on the Saturday night before the Super Bowl. ‚ÄúWe had a blast and got to play for about 3,000 people that night,‚Äù Thomas said, ‚Äúwhich is great when you‚Äôre a bunch of hams like us.‚Äù They‚Äôll have a new CD coming out in about four months.

The band plays out and about at venues around Tampa Bay; on Thursdays, you can catch them at Jimmy B's in St. Pete Beach or Gators on the Pass in Treasure Island. This Saturday, they're performing at the Lobby Bar at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
