Artist of the day: Benjah and the Lov'd Ones

Not every reggae artist practices Rastafarianism. Case in point: Benjah and Dillavou of the Lov'd Ones.

A joint project between Orlando singer-rapper Benjah (above) and Oklahoma musician Dillavou, the reggae/hip-hop team is thoroughly Christian -- Benjah even won a Dove Award and was nominated for a Grammy for his work on Lecrae's album Rehab.

On The Lov'd Ones' self-titled debut album, Benjah and Dillavou rap and croon about the power of Christ and the benefits of leaving behind an unfulfilling club life. "We be marching to the beat of Jesus' drum," they sing on B4 This Life Is Over.

On Friday, Benjah and the Lov'd Ones will perform at the Local 662 in St. Petersburg. Tickets are a very reasonable $5. Click here for details.
